Collaged prints on paper arranged into a nautical design, with added paint and drawing materials. Final artwork mounted onto a white stretched canvas.
This artwork combines my love of expressive and abstract painting with that of printmaking. I took inspiration I from the Apollo Bay harbour, so there is a somewhat nautical feel to the artwork. The printmaking and collage approach – to create a “visual sentence” was taught by American artist Jane Davies, and was extended here to present the artwork on canvas.
The prints have been mounted securely onto the canvas and finished with painting medium as well as varnish for protection. As seen, the collage itself is an irregular shape, and the canvas has been painted white around the edges of the collage. The sides of the canvas are painted white also, so the artwork can be hung as it is.
